Discover the Transformative Power of Certainty in Allah: Insights and Guidance

One of the biggest factors hindering the answer to dua is a lack of certainty in its fulfilment. Not fully believing in Allah’s capability (Astaghfirullah), you may not say it, you may not even think it, but on some unconscious level, you question, “Can Allah fix this for me? How can such and such a thing be resolved for me?”
The question you need to ask yourself is: Do you truly know who Allah is? How certain are you? When you pray to Allah the Almighty, do you harbour doubts that your prayers will be answered? If there are holes in your belief and certainty in Allah the Almighty, how do you cultivate and nurture that certainty and have full conviction in His ability to do so?
This articles seeks to address this issue and I have translated paraphrased the sheikhs advice from Arabic into English. At the end of the article you will find a link to his video that I’ve translated.
If we had to summarize, I say that everything in the Quran and the Sunnah leads to certainty. They both lead to certainty. Every atom in this universe leads to certainty. All the stories of the prophets lead to certainty. Every aspect of your life leads you to certainty as long as the person opens their heart to it.
In surah AL-Hajj ayah 46 Allah says ‘Have they not travelled throughout the land so their hearts may reason, and their ears may listen? Indeed, it is not the eyes that are blind, but it is the hearts in the chests that grow blind’
And in Surah Imran Allah says
˹They are˺ those who remember Allah while standing, sitting, and lying on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth ˹and pray˺, “Our Lord! You have not created ˹all of˺ this without purpose. Glory be to You! Protect us from the torment of the Fire. surah al Imran Ayah 3:191.
Certainty doesn’t come except in seclusion, away from people. Believe me when I say , that certainty comes, When you seclude yourself with Allah, you give yourself the time to reflect on Allah’s creation.
There are so many distractions around us and not to mention the sins we constantly commit, we ALL commit sins and I mean All of us. The difference between those who are guided and those who are not is the one who holds himself to account. Being alone with Allah and holding himself to account. Shaytan tries to prevent this moment. This moment between success in this world and failure, a session of contemplation between you and yourself, what should I do? Where will my future be? Why don’t I determine what I want? Because shaytan prevents us. The shaytan prevents us from being secluded even within ourselves. To hold myself accountable. To see if I am among the successful or among the failures.

Reflect on these questions: Am I merely a bystander in this world, or have I contributed something meaningful? Am I a catalyst for success? Consider this beyond religious realms. Am I paving the path to success or am I fostering failure in this earthly existence? What is my purpose here?
These are inquiries the devil actively discourages us from pondering. He seeks to confine us to the depths of sin and despair, thwarting our ascent to realms of goodness, grace, and triumph. His aim is to stifle contemplation and hinder our pursuit of purpose.
My brothers, O brothers and sisters, if you sit in seclusion, you will truly know who Allah is. And when you know who Allah is, you no longer need anyone to teach you the path of certainty.
Reflect on the profound guidance of the sheikh; take a moment to delve into the depths of your own existence. How many times has Allah, in His boundless mercy, rescued you from trials that seemed insurmountable? Reflect on the time when you were a fragile soul, cradled in the womb of your mother. Did you have to struggle for sustenance? No, for Allah, in His abundant grace, provided for you without your plea.

Contemplate the blessings that grace your life, blessings for which you never uttered a prayer, yet they were bestowed upon you. Consider the vast expanse of the sea, its endless horizon, yet it refrains from engulfing us. Instead, it ebbs and flows, a testament to the divine order that permeates the universe.

Reflect on the prophets and what they’ve been through—Moses (AS), Yusuf (AS), Ayub (AS), and so on. Allah saved them. Remember Yunus (AS) when he called out to Allah from the belly of the whale. Was there a phone line for him to call out for help? So, what makes you think your problem is impossible for Allah? Reflect, reflect, and nurture your certainty in Allah, and see how your duas will change your life. May Allah guide us all and give us success in this life and the next.
